The Spanish national team is the new FIBA Europe U20 champion after defeating Lithuania 68 – 55 in Helsinki, Finland.

Led by a dominant Ramon Vila who registered a double-double of 19 points plus 14 rebounds and with Marc Garcia, who added 21 points, showing his talent abundance,  the “Rojas” celebrated their second golden medal in U20 European championships. Garcia was also named MVP of the tournament after averaging 14.9 points and 4.3 rebounds.

For Lithuania, Ignas Fiodorovas with 13 points and Kristupas Zeimaitis who dropped 11, were the only players who scored in double-digit numbers.

Earlier, Turkey won bronze medal in the third place game vs Germany (76 – 61) behind a pretty performance by Berk Ugurlu (18 points, 8 assists, 4 rebounds).

In the final of the Second Divison tournament, that takes place in Chalkida, Montenegro overpowered a quite feisty Iceland 78 – 76 on overtime, with Aleksa Ilic recording 14 points and 18 (!) rebounds.  Both teams had already obtained the ticket for Division A, after making it to the golden medal game.

Behind 16 points and 10 rebounds by Vassilis Charalambopoulos, Greece, the tournaments’ hosts clinched third place after beating Croatia 73 – 67 and also advanced to Division A.
