Despite the fact that USA is a lock for the gold medal in the basketball tournament, Kevin Durant tried to keep a low profile approach to the upcoming Games and had only good things to say about Spain.

According to the Spanish news agency EFE, Durant despite being  “optimistic”  added that “nothing in this game is simple. There are no guarantees in this sport and we know that . We appreciate the journey, starting this Saturday against China and we are glad to face to them for the third time in recent weeks “.

Speaking about the stay of Team USA not in the olympic village, but in the “Silver Cloud” cruise ships – a decision similar to the one taken back in 2004 in Athens – Durant tried also to downplay the situation: “We got into a boat and that was a decision that was already made long ago.  It’s the same. We are here to play basketball games”.

As for the competition, Durant added: “Spain is always a great challenge. But we are looking forward to play against who we have to play. It is not guaranteed that we have to play against them in the final. You have to play one game after another. And no matter who we face, we must always give everything. I was always a big fan of Pau Gasol. It has stunning qualities and also, it seems that ge never gets old. Always it remains consistent in the way they play. And it is one of the players really respect”.
