Serbia came close to delivering what would have been the upset of the Olympic Games vs team USA. While they ultimately lost 94 – 91, their effort and quality of basketball received quite the praise. And rightfully so.
One of the keys to the Serbians’ performance was that they were never intimidated by their opponents. “They are just players. If you think about who they are, you are not going to be good at this”, said Nikola Jokic. The Denver Nuggets center registered a Serbia game-high, scoring 25 points, while also grabbing 6 rebounds.
“We got warmed after a poor beginnings. And then we showed that we can play against them, added Miroslav Raduljica, as reported by Sportska Centrala. He had given a good deal of trouble to the USA players with his 18 points ,before he got fouled out.
He continued saying that “I think some of our actions annoyed them. Perhaps they underestimated it us a bit. I have the impression that they were upset about it sometimes”.
Serbia excelled on offense with some notably effective passing game. “We enjoy it when we play like that. And I think it’s beautiful to watch us play like that too”
