The tension was there in the game between Brazil and Argentina, but the end result was an amazing contest which will be remembered.
And after all it’s just sports, as Argentinian Luis Scola explained in the press conference, when he was asked about what those kind of games mean: “South America is a great place, it’s fun, watching sports. The way we do sports is fun. We just cross the line sometimes. If we can stop right before the line, it’s going to be the best show ever. It’s going to be beautiful. We thought if we can make people understand that it is just a game, there’s family there and all that. It’s going to be much better for everybody. A lot of times it’s us, the players and the athletes that say, ‘It’s going to be a war, it’s going to be do-or-die, it’s going to be a battle’, all those words we use, all the declarations, we’re a big part of the problem at times and we don’t want to be a part of the problem. Athletes, if we start it, we have more of a chance that it will change. If we continue to talk like that, like it’s a war, a battle, it will probably continue to happen. Nobody died today. Nobody will die next game. It’s just a game.”
