The captain of Real Madrid, Felipe Reyes, is the only player of the current Spanish national team alongside Pau Gasol who have won in total 10 medals in major competitions since the Eurobasket 2001.
And despite the fact that so far no player of the team said anything about retiring, Reyes admitted that this may have been the last Olympics for many: “The medal is a big prize and ending with a victory is very important. This was the goal, end up winning. A medal is not easy to get and for many of us it was the last Olympics , so let’s enjoy it”.
As for the tournament he added: “We were able to be reborn after the two losses to Croatia and Brazil. We started bad, but we demostrated that this team thrives in adversity”.
