The moment of the “Diamonds Are Forever” approaches and it’s time for the new captain of Panathinaikos, Nick Calathes, to talk about Dimitris Diamantidis, the tournament’s honorary person.

Calathes played at Diamantidis’ side for four years seasons with the Greens (2009-2012 and 2015-2016), growing up as a player under the mentorship of “3D”.

“I feel proud to have been his teammate and to have played with him until his very last game. I am paroud to have been a teammate with one of the best players in the history of European basketball. The “Diamonds Are Forever” tournament will be an exceptional event in honor of this great athlete. I am proud that I will be part of this and I will have the chance to meet him again. I am excited and looking forward to this unique moments of Dimitris. Diamantidis is: Special man, amazing guy, captain, leader, down to earth, and the list goes on.”

“I remember a lot of moments but I would choose our Euroleague 2011 championship win in Barcelona. This tournament will be a great opportunity for us to test our level of readiness. We will play some of the best teams in Europe.”

“I have nothing to say to our fans. I know they are going to fill the arena. They are always here to support us in their own unique way. I am sure they will to come to see, honor and applaud Dimitris Diamantidis.”
