During the recent 5×5 game event that took place at the “Top of the World”Aletsch Glacier of the Bernese Alps, Tony Parker expressed his ambition that he wants his illustrious NBA career to go out with a bang: By winning his fifth champion’s ring.

“It would be great to win the NBA title for my grand finale”, he said to Swiss website Lematin. “Winning titles has always been my motivation to continue. I love it, that’s what keeps me going. In San Antonio I was lucky to be in a team that can win the title every year. I think we still have opportunities to do it again this season.”

How will the absence of legendary Tim Duncan affect the team? “He will be missed. He is irreplaceable. But anyway, we managed to sign Pau Gasol and he will help. We know that anything can happen in a season, that’s the beauty of the sport.”

After the defeat of the French national team by Spain in the Olympic quarterfinals, Parker announced his retirement from his international career. “It’s a decision I still maintain. I won’t go back on it. Still, it will be different from now on.”

Parker has also big plans about Asvel Villeurbanne, the French club which owns and is president. “I’d love to play four or five years in the NBA to make ti to 20 seasons. After that I have already prepared my new role as full time president of ASVEL. I want to develop its academies, new players. This is also an important part of being an athlete, to think about the future.”
