In the first title game of the new season in Israel, Maccabi Tel Aviv was defeated rather easily by Hapoel Jerusalem. For Sonny Weems, probably of the best players of the “Yellows” in that match, lack of defense was the main cause for this result.

“We didn’t get of to a good start in the first half . That’s going to be our goal. We should play defense.”, Weems said. “That’s going to win us games and give us what we need. That’s what the coach has been preaching too.”

“We let this game get away from us, but we still have a long season ahead of us and we are going to be ready for it,” added the American forward.

When asked if this game shows anything about the power difference between Maccabi and Hapoel, Weems simply replied “no”.

Andrew Goudelock and Quincy Miller, two major summer additions of Maccabi Tel Aviv have been sidelined due to injuries. “I can’t wait for these guys to come back so we are going become a complete team, a different team.”
