In a strange turn of events, Alex Abrines made his NBA debut in his home country, Spain, against his longtime opponent Real Madrid.

The former Barca player after the game had only good things to say about the “Whites” and the level of play of Euroleague: “If Madrid were playing in the NBA they would not do bad. They are among the top level of Europe and they have demonstrated this today. FIve or six Euroleague teams could make the cut in the NBA”.

For his first game as a player of the Thunder, in which he scored 12 points, Abrines added: “I already know how Real Madrid plays. It seemed that we had won at half time, but everyone learned that you can not lose focus even for four seconds, because they can beat you. I have to improve a lot, specially in defense, where things are quite different in the NBA. I‘m happy they have accepted me well in my new team and I can only keep working in order to do my best”.
