A stunning entrance in the second half gave Zalgiris Kaunas the boost needed to emerge victorious 74 – 66 from the Lithuanian League vs Lietuvos Rytas in Vilnius.

Coach Jasikevicius’ players were behind the score 34 – 38 after the first twenty minutes of the game, but brought a storm on the floor after they came back from the locker rooms, outplaying their opponents 22-8 during the third quarter.

Rytas tried to reclaim what was previously theirs, but Kevin Pangos’ (16 points) timely strikes kept Zalgiris safe and sound. Edgaras Ulanovas (12 points, 8 rebounds) provided important all-around helps, Lukas Lekavicius (12 points) did his part, as well as Leo Westermann’s playmaking contribution (9 points, 5 assists).

Rashaun Broadius with Julius Jucikas scored 13 points apiece for Lietuvos Rytas and David Logan added 12 plus 5 rebounds.

Zalgiris now turns its attention to the challenging Euroleague premiere against Panathinaikos in Athens.
