Breaking news in Panathinaikos! In the aftermath of last night’s heavy defeat by Olympiacos, Argiris Pedoulakis resigned from being head coach of the Greens.

Panathinaikos suffered a big loss in the hands of their arch-rivals which brought some major developments in the team’s camp. Argiris Pedoulakis is no longer at the helm of Panathinaikos after his resignation was accepted by the club’s management.

According to sources close to the club, there was a specific term in Pedoulakis’ contract that allowed for a an assistant coach from USA to come and provide help with team’s offensive game. When Pedoulakis was reminded about it after the game vs Olympiacos, he refused to accept such a move, which brought a breach in the relations between him and the management and, ultimately, his resignation.

This was the second tenure of the 52-year old coach in Panathinaikos. He was the one that succeeded Zeljko Obradovic in 2012, staying in the team until the mid of 2013/2014 season.

The Greek club will now have to conduct a major search in order to find his replacement with the season underway and many crucial games arriving.
