Not only did Baskonia return to victories but made it in one of the most unwelcome arenas for visiting teams in Europe. Through excellent defense and with Rodrigue Beaubois and Shane Larkin delivering on the other end, the Basques defeated Crvena Zvezda in Belgrade perhaps more easily than what the final 70 – 63 shows.

This is victory no. 3 for Baskonia, while the Serbians suffered a second defeat in a row and now stand at a 2 – 3 record.

Coach Alonso’s players were ahead in the score from start to finish, often enjoying double-digit advantages and rarely feeling threatened by their opponents. Every time that Red Star attempted to become a bit dangerous, either with Marko Guduric (12 points), Marko Simonovic (11 points) or Charles Jenkins (4 points), the guests reacted timely and had an answered ready for everything.

Larkin (16 points, , 6 assists, 4 steals) orchestrated the offense of his team beautifully, Beaubois (16 points) showed why the club acquired him on summer, while Johannes Voigtmann (11 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists) made Andrea Bargnani’s absence look insignificant.
