Galatasaray craved for it and Galatasaray took it. With a show from the 3-point line (13/22) and a superb comeback after a horrid beginning, the “Cimbom” took their first Euroleague victory of the season, besting Olympiacos 89 – 87 in “Abdi Ipekci”.

But all raging 3-point action from Galatasaray would have been all in vain, if Alex Tyus didn’t deliver the absolute play of the game, blocking Giorgos Printezis’ (the best player of Olympiacos with 17 points and 7 rebounds) game-winning attempt from downtown with 1 second to go. You can watch it here.

Talking about downtown buckets…. Jon Diebler dropped the lot of them with 5/5, having 17 points in total while Justin Dentmon the main damage-perpetrator of the winning side, sank 4/8 also tying his season high in scoring with 22 points. Meanwhile Sinan Guler dished one assist after the other, finishing at 12 (!), a new career high in Euroleague.

Olympiacos also had its own fair share of 3-point snipers tonight with Vangelis Mantzaris (19 points, 5/8 from behind the arc) and Matt Lojeski (15 points, 3/4 from downtown) the top players of the hosts along with Printezis. But the guests poor defense, combined with their opponents’ iron will to win proved to be decisive.
