Olympiacos was searching for a strong reaction after the Euroleague loss by Galatasaray and Apollon Patras became the ideal… victim for the Reds. With a comfortable 83 – 55 win, the reigning Greek league champions expanded their perfect streak to 6-0, while the team from Patras is now looking to recover from a 1-5 record.

The game was a monologue for Olympiacos that didn’t only win quite easily but also took advantage of the opportunity to rotate heavily and divide playing time harmoniously among the team’s players.

Kostas Papanikolaou was the top contributor of the winners with 12 points, 5 assists and 5 rebounds while the other “Pap” of Olympiacos, Ioannis Papapetrou dropped 13 along and dished 4 assists. Erick Green was out of the team in this game, because he has taken a 48 hours leave of absence. That was the official word used as Green was out as punishment for not being content with his role in the rotation.

Giorgos Tsiaras stood out from Apollon with his 14 points.

By grabbing a quite important road victory against PAOK in Thessaloniki, AEK (6-0) remains tied with Olympiacos in the first place of the standings as the only other unscathed team in the league. As for the “Black & Whites”, they lost ground, falling to the third place with a 4-2 record.

Panathinaikos (5-1) is now the sole occupant of the second spot after downing Kolossos Rhodes (4-2) at home.
