Ryan Toolson confirmed his status as the top scorer in Eurocup and Stefan Markovic registered his third double-double in six games, leading Zenit St. Petersburg to a 90 – 77 victory over Murcia in Spain.
Since both teams have already been qualified to the competition’s Top 16, this was a battle for a better placing in the standings. Zenit now has the advantage with a 4 – 2 record vs Murcia’s 4 – 3.
And Toolson and Markovic were mainly the ones that made it happen for the victors. The American guard dropped 22 points and dished 4 assists while the team’s floor general scored 14 points and sent 11 dimes to his teammates. Janis Timma added 16 points.
Murcia never recovered from its negative 10 – 22 start, trailing with a double-digit deficit for the majority of the match. Facu Campazzo had 17 points (1/8 from downtown) plus 4 assists and Vitor Faverani 12 points as many as Billy Baron.
