Darussafaka Dogus needed an emphatic performance to bounce back after Friday’s EuroLeague defeat by Olympiacos and that’s what it presented on court against Istanbul Buyuksehir for the Turkish league.

David Blatt’s players absolutely crushed their opponents 82 – 50 grabbing their sixth victory in the championship and forcing Buyuksehir to remain winless.

Adrien Moerman contributed 13 points plus 7 rebounds and James Anderson registered a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds. Scottie Wilbekin also dropped 12 points, while sending 5 assists to his teammates.

Buyuksehir couldn’t fight back against the superior quality of Darussafaka, even moreso given its ugly shooting percentages (16/45 two-pointers, 3/23 from downtown) and will have to search for its first victory of the season elsewhere. Only Jarvis Varnado truly stood out, with 15 points and 6 rebounds.

This match completed the 9th GameDay of the Turkish Basketball Super League. The upset of the Week delivered by Tofas Bursa (3-6) against Fenerbhace left Anadolu Efes (8-1) and Banvit (8-1) sharing company at the top and created a three-way tie at the second place.

The defending champs now have the same record  (7-2) with Galatasaray and Besiktas which both proceeded with victories vs Usak Sportif (2-7) and Best Balikesir (0-9), respectively. Darussafaka Dogus (6-3) is pursuing, along with Pinar Karsiyaka (6-3).
