After Panathinaikos‘ Mike James and KC Rivers had been detained by the Spanish Police in the Barcelona airport on December 1st, accused for an alleged crime of document misrepresentation, El Mundo reports that the two players could be sentenced for these charges from 3 to 6 years.

It is considered that both Rivers and James acted in an unlawful manner with the intention of making a profit by falsifying their passports. Still, they were shortly released after being arrested.

As reported in August 2016, the two players were found to own fake Guinea-Bissau passports in order to be eligible to play in the ACB league with Real Madrid and Baskonia respectively the previous season.
