Although Olimpia Milano (10-1) suffered its first defeat of the season in the Italian League, this didn’t affect neither its place at the top of the standings, nor the distance from the teams below.

And that’s because Reggio Emilia (8-3) missed a fine opportunity to get closer, by losing to Varese (4-7) on the road. The visiting team was a favorite before the match, but had problems producing buckets, contrary to its opponents that got their fourth victory in the league.

Venezia (8-3) climbed at the second place where it keeps Reggio Emilia company, while Avellino (7-4) lost ground after getting narrowly beaten by Cantu (4-7) away from home. JaJuan Johnson nothing short of a monster game for the winning side, but ultimately it was a key free throw by Tremmel Darden that granted coach Bolshakov’s squad its fourth victory in the championship.
