Real Madrid suffered its fifth defeat in the EuroLeague regular season, falling victim to a rock-solid, intensely physical defense of Crvena Zvezda in Belgrade. After the match, head coach Pablo Laso discussed what took place on court, while commenting on the officiating of the game with a somewhat cryptic choice of words.
“Crvena Zvezda played very well on defense. We knew the difficulties of playing here and they played with a lot of energy. We weren’t able to catch up with them. I didn’t see the referees. They were there but I didn’t see them,” said the coach of the “Blancos” as reported by Marca.
Laso admitted that Red Star deserved to win after putting such a robust defensive effort on court. “They controlled the game and it was a well-deserved win. They played stronger and they have been more physical than us. They didn’t allow us to return in the game.”
