Euroleague CEO Jordi Bertomeu confirmed that the 2017 EuroLeague Final Four will take place is in Istanbul as planned, despite the recent terrorist attacks that took place in Turkey.

“We’re worried, of course. Statistically, perhaps Turkey has the worse numbers when it comes to terrorism but things are happening in other cities too,” he said in an interview for El Mundo. “We will not leave Istanbul, we can not take steps back. If we step back from fear, there is someone who wins.”

Bertomeu continued saying, “We have security guarantees because the Turkish government is even more interested us that nothing happens in an international event. The response of the fans who bought all tickets in an hour and a half, is the most powerful message that can be sent.”
