Tuesday night action in the ACB league concluded with two surprises, as both Real Madrid and Baskonia were defeated on the road, by Real Betis and Gran Canaria respectively.

Real Betis was saved by a pair of free throws by Triguero, who evened the score and eventually gave a 86-85 win to his team. Pablo Laso’s team had the lead for most of the game, yet when the hosts started trimming it in the final period, things got tough for the Whites.

Trent Lockett led the winners with 16 points, followed by Nikola Radicevic’s 15. For Real, Sergio Llull’s 20 points weren’t enough to save the visiting team, that now stands at 11-2 in the league’s standings.

Another road upset took place in week 13, this time for Baskonia, who surrendered to Gran Canaria with 74-61. Sito Alonso’s team fell to an 8-5 record, while the hosts improved to 7-6.

After Gran Canaria outdid the visiting team in the first quarter with a partial score of 22-6, it was easy to get a grip of the game from early on. With great defense, the hosts managed to keep Baskonia’s scorers in low scores, while at the same time found solutions in the perimeter. Notably, Baskonia had a poor 21% in 3-pointers.

Bo McCalebb led the winners with 17 points, while Kyle Kuric and Pablo Aguilar both scored 10.

For Baskonia, Rodrigue Beaubois had 15 points, Shane Larkin added 12, while Tornike Shengelia put 11 more.

Earlier in the day, Barcelona prevailed over Valencia at home on Navarro’s milestone night.
