Panathinaikos needed the road win in order to remain tied in the second spot of the standings, but Unics Kazan had other plans. The Russians got the 83-81 win and now can even aim at the playoffs!

Keith Langford was a true leader once more with 27 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds, Latavious Williams did real damage with 19 points and 9 rebounds, while Quino Colom also had a good game with 16 points.

Panathinaikos got a 78-77 lead thanks to a three by Giannis Bourousis, however Kazan answered with a 6-0 run (83-78) getting a crucial advantage after a shot by Williams with 40 seconds left, while the Greeks could not score for three minutes.

This changed with a big three by KC Rivers which cut Kazan’s lead to two (83-81) with 30 seconds on the clock. And that was the final score, Williams lost his next shot and also Demetris Nichols on the buzzer could not send the game to overtime.

Panathinaikos had a 44-35 half time lead, but couldn’t keep at the third quarter which ended with Kazan trailing by two (65-63). Nick Calathes had one more great game with 23 points and 6 assists, Mike James and Giannis Bourousis added 13 points, still in the end they couldn’t close the game the right way.
