On paper and on the standings, Galatasaray and Brose Bamberg are not that different. Still on the court things were different as the German champs got an easy 90-75 win.

The winners were better from the get go, build a 47-38 lead by half time, led by 22 (74-52) at the end of the third quarter and only in the end they let the hosts cut the final points difference to 15. Janis Strelnieks with 18 points and an amazing buzzer beater was the top scorer of a balanced offensive effort which produced 14/23 threes.

Of course this kind of shooting was the key for Brose Bamberg dominance. Austin Daye returned to action and scored 20 points for Galatasaray, which were not enough, while big men Tibor Pleiss and Alex Tyus had 15 points each.

The problem for the hosts was defense – specially in the perimeter as you can understand from the made threes – and without tenacity on your own home court, you can’t go far.

For the winning team, Daniel Theis was impressive with 14 points and 14 rebounds, Fabien Causer had 14 points, Nikos Zisis scored 11 points and Nicolo Melli also flirted with the double double (10 p. 9 r.).
