With a superb defensive first half backing its efforts for the remainder of the game, Unicaja Malaga defeated Alba Berlin 77 – 69 for the Eurocup Top 16.

The Spaniards managed to restrain their opponents to 26 points at halftime while dropping 41 thus gaining a serious advantage ahead of the second stretch of the game. Elmedin Kikanovic’s absence had obviously created problems in Alba’s game, something that Malaga greatly took advantage of.

While Alba significantly improved its offense, scoring 23 points in the third quarter it couldn’t complete a comeback since Unicaja always had an answer for every attempt of their hosts.

Jeff Brooks (15 points, 6 rebounds) and Daniel Diez (13 points, 6 rebounds) were the top performers by Juan Plaza’s squad while Dragan Milosavljevic (22 points, 5 rebounds) stood out for Alba.
