Brose Bamberg lost too many close games in EuroLeague, so they didn’t want to take any chances against Barcelona. The players of coach Andrea Trinchieri kept their distance for the 85-65 easy win.
Darius Miller and Janis Strelnieks scored 20 points each, Nicolo Melli had one more amazing night with 17 points and 13 rebounds, still defense was the key for the win.
The German champs controlled the game from the start, having a 40-31 lead at half time and a 20 points advantage (56-36) during the third quarter. Barcelona tried to react, entered the last quarter trailing by 12 points (59-47) and cut the hosts’ lead to eight (59-51), but couldn’t get closer.
Despite 19 points from Tyrese Rice – and also 4 assists and 4 turnovers – no other player scored in double digits, Barcelona couldn’t score more than 18 points in any period and had in total 12 assists and 18 turnovers. The two teams are now tied with a 7-9 record and they both fighting for the playoffs.
