By quite possibly playing its best game in the season so far Galatasaray absolutely destroyed a disappointing Maccabi Tel Aviv 102 – 63 in “Abdi Ipekci”, Istanbul achieving its sixth victory in the EuroLeague season.

The Israelis were defensively sloppy in the first half and horrid on both ends after the break, losing even more ground in the standings. They now have a 6 – 13 record and the playoffs are getting further away.

The “Cimbom” made the start in the first half by lacerating the opposing defense thanks to Sinan Guler (8 points, 12 assists) and Tibor Pleiss (16 points, 5 rebounds) pick n’ roll connections. Their action was a main reason behind the 52 – 39 at halftime since the guests couldn’t make a single stop on their cooperations.

You would’ve expect a reaction by coach Bagatskis’ players but the worst were yet to come for the “Yellows. Galatasaray kept scoring fluently with Jon Diebler (21 points, 6/7 three-pointers) and Alex Tyus (18 points), and kept their opponents’ offense at extremely low standards.

Andrew Goudelock (22 points) and Sonny Weems (12 points) were the only players who dropped double-digit numbers for Maccabi that fell behind 72 – 52 at the end of the third quarter. Their team continued getting plummeted since Galatasaray wanted to give a show to its fans and win with the largest possible margin, something accomplished in the end.
