Despite gambling away its early lead, Dinamo Sassari came out on top 88-83 against Strasbourg on the road in Basketball Champions League.

Dyshawn Pierre led the way with 17 points and 12 rebounds while Michele Vitali also scored 17 in addition to Marco Spissu’s 16 and Miro Bilan’s 15 points. Bilan grabbed eight boards as well.

Sassari improved to 9-3 in Group A and officially advanced to the playoffs while Strasbourg stayed at four wins (4-8).

The French side can still make it but they would have to win the two remaining games while UNET Holon and Filou Oostende would have to lose theirs. Not to mention that Strasbourg is on a nine-game losing skid in all competitions.

Gabe York banked 21 points for Strasbourg followed by Damien Inglis with 12 and Ali Traoré with 11 points.

Sassari was off to a furious start leading 28-13 after ten minutes but Strasbourg cut the gap to 46-42 at halftime. The French squad tied the game at 47 after the break but Sassari didn’t let it go any further. The guests took over once again and made it to a 14-point margin (76-62) early in the fourth quarter, which was enough to push them to victory.
