Following three straight Basketball Champions League defeats, AEK bounced back with the 81-70 victory against RASTA Vechta on Wednesday evening. Improving to 8-5 in Group B was enough to clinch a playoffs berth with one game left.

Vlado Jankovic paced his side at the Rasta Dome Vechta setting his season-high at 14 points and Nikos Zisis added 12 of his own. Overall, Ilias Papatheodorou’s club generated a double-digit advantage early in the first period and never looked back.

Trevis Simpson scored a game-high 28 points, but Regular Season Gameday 13 dropped Pedro Calles’ team to 6-7. Next week’s affair in Spain against San Pablo Burgos will be the decider in terms of moving on to the Round of 16.

Teksut Bandirma clinched alongside the Queen, but positioning remains unclear for both advancing sides.
