Falco Szombathely and Nizhny Novgorod put on a great offensive show in the Savaria Arena in Hungary but the away squad was the one to come out on top this time with 93-88 on the scoreboard.

With this outcome, both teams now hold a 1-1 record in the Basketball Champions League Group D.

Six players scored in double-digits for Nizhny Novgorod, led by Sergey Toropov, Aleksandr Chadov, and Evgenii Baburin who scored 14 points each. Ivan Strebkov logged 12 points and 11 boards.

On the other side, Zoltan Perl and Evan Bruinsma scored 19 each in addition to Szilard Benke’s 15 points. Kyan Anderson had 18 points and ten assists

The duel featured lots of ups and downs right from the get-go. Falco started with an 8-0 run but the Russian team answered right away with nine straight points and was up by 27-17 at the end of the first quarter.

Falco cut the gap to the minimum at halftime (49-48) and the clash stayed even until the very end with Nizhny managing to hold on for the win.

Both teams shot over 50% from the field overall and had high percentages from deep but in the end, Falco just turned the ball over too many times. Their 19 turnovers led to some easy points off of Nizhny’s 11 steals and the latter’s ball movement, producing 27 assists, was just too much for the Hungarians to handle.
