The reigning champions Hereda San Pablo Burgos were off to a slow start but quickly got things under control on their way to a convincing 100-70 home win against Darussafka Tekfen in Basketball Champions League.

Burgos improved to 2-1 at the top of Group H compared to Darussafaka’s 1-2 record.

Jasiel Rivero banked in 26 points for the winning side on 10-14 shooting while Vítor Benite added 16 and Dejan Kravic 13 points. Thaddus McFadden had 12.

For Darussafaka, Sinan Guler and Berk Demir scored 15 points each followed by Dogus Özdemiroglu with ten.

The Turks were holding up and had an early 14-11 lead but Burgos was slowly taking over and was up by 23-18 already at the end of the first quarter. They went on to win all four quarters and were increasing the lead until the very last second.

Darussafaka was down by just one early in the third quarter but coach Joan Penarroya called a time-out to ‘wake up’ and ‘shake up’ his players who clearly answered the call for the rest of the game.

The Spaniards were better in practically all statistic categories with the biggest difference coming from defense and points in transition. They forced 20 turnovers from Darussafaka and got 22 easy points off of it which paced their way to victory.
