Hereda San Pablo Burgos jumped to 3-0 in Basketball Champions League Round of 16 Group J with a solid defensive effort in the win, 67-45, against VEF Riga at Arena Riga Wednesday.

Jasiel Rivero posted his fifth BCL double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds as his side returned to action after two weeks and a team quarantine. Thad McFadden orchestrating everything finished the Gameday 4 contest with 12 points to his name.

Only ten players available, effectively an eight-man rotation for Joan Penarroya but job well done at the Latvian capital. Vitor Benite, Omar Cook, Dejan Kravic, Ken Horton, and Miquel Salvo all missed the trip after testing positive for coronavirus the past week.

The visitors already in control blew the game open outscoring their opponents, 19-4, in the fourth quarter to secure an eighth win in a row in FIBA’s premier European club competition.

The team led by Janis Gailitis saw its Final 8 bid officially ended after falling to 0-4. Isaiah Pineiro scored a team-high eight points.
