Bonzie Colson is the Basketball Champions League MVP of the 2020-21 season, BCL announced Friday.

Colson, 25, has averaged 18.2 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists per BCL appearance this season. His achievements throughout the MVP campaign include plenty of key buckets lifting SIG Strasbourg. His side is still in the title hunt and will collide with Hereda San Pablo Burgos later today in the Basketball Champions League Final 8 Semifinals held at Nizhny Novgorod, Russia.

Per the press release: “Bonzie Colson, the player of SIG Strasbourg, has been awarded the title of Most Valuable Player of the 2020-21 Basketball Champions League Season.

The 25-year-old American, born in Washington D.C., has had an outstanding season with SIG Strasbourg. He has scored an average of 18.2 points per game in the BCL this season, more than any other player.

Bonzie Colson, who will face Hereda San Pablo Burgos in the Semi-Finals, has scored 218 points this season in the BCL, only two players had a best tally of points with Strasbourg in a BCL season (Gabe York & David Logan); however, his average of 18.2 points per game is currently the best for a Strasbourg player in a BCL season.

Colson, who is with Raymar Morgan one of the two players with 18+ points and 6+ rebounds on average per game this season in BCL, has been chosen among the Team of the Month of January and the All-BCL Play-Offs Team this season in the competition.

Before signing for SIG Strasbourg in August 2020, Colson, who played college basketball for the University of Notre Dame, started his professional career with the Canton Charge and then the Milwaukee Bucks, before joining Darussafaka Tekfen for the season 2019-20.

The award will be presented before the second Final 8 Semi-Final which will see SIG Strasbourg face the BCL reigning champions Hereda San Pablo Burgos for a place in the Final of the 2020-21 Basketball Champions League.”
