San Pablo Burgos and coach Joan Penarroya parted ways, the club announced. Penarroya’s contract expired and he won’t continue with the Spanish club.
Penarroya had a stunning run with Burgos. He led the team to back-to-back Basketball Champions League titles in 2020 and 2021, the first continental trophies in the history of the club. In Spain, Burgos made the ACB semifinal stage in 2020, something that was also a first-time achievement.
In 2021, Burgos also made its debut in the ACB playoffs (since the 2020 season finale wasn’t held in playoff format).
