The first coaching change in the BCL became a reality after the bad start of the season for the Israeli club

Hapoel Jerusalem officially announced they’ve parted ways with coach Oren Amiel and Yotam Halperin is appointed as the interim coach. The 37 years old former sporting director of Hapoel Jerusalem was considered the best Israeli guard of his generation

He was part of the Maccabi Tel Aviv team which won back-t0-back EuroLeague titles back in 2004 and in 2005 and he has also played for Olympiacos, Bayern Munich, Union Olimpija, Spartak Saint Petersburg, and, of course, Hapoel Jerusalem.

The writings were on the wall for Amiel after his team started the BCL season with a 0-3 record, despite big summer signings that included among other Thon Maker and Anthony Bennett. Despite the marquee names, Hapoel was not delivering according to expectations.
