Jalen Riley led the charge for VEF Riga as the Latvian team got a convincing 92-76 home win over AEK Athens in the Basketball Champions League.

With this outcome, Riga got its much-needed first win this season and now holds a 1-2 record while AEK continued to struggle and stayed winless with 0-3 at the bottom of Group D.

Riley shot 8-16 from the field including 6-10 from deep on his way to game-high 25 points. He also dished out seven assists and grabbed five rebounds.

Ron Curry followed him every step of the way with 19 points, six assists, three rebounds while Alexander Madsen had 13 points and eight boards.

For AEK, Nikos Pappas banked in 22 points with Braian Angola adding 14 and Ian Hummer 13 points. Hummer also grabbed eight rebounds.

Riga’s defense gave trouble to the already struggling AEK offense, keeping them below 40% from the field and securing the boards almost perfectly. AEK found itself down 12 at halftime (46-34) and made a comeback effort (46-40) but Riga quickly got back up to double-digits (65-51) and never looked back.
