Since its inception, the Basketball Champions League has been helping the teams improve their overall structure and business and one of the ways to do so has been the annual Club Marketing and Digital Workshop to which all clubs get an invite.

Per the Basketball Champions League:

For the fifth consecutive year, the Basketball Champions League hosted a Club Marketing & Digital Workshop from Tuesday to Wednesday, at the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball in Mies, Switzerland.

All participating teams were invited to this workshop that highlighted some key commercial and marketing concepts and offered cutting-edge insights on branding and digital strategy, fan experience and engagement.

“It is a great pleasure to welcome all our participating clubs for this Club Marketing & Digital Workshop,” said Patrick Comninos, CEO of the Basketball Champions League. “Especially in this delicate period, where marketing your brand and engaging your fans digitally is essential. Together with top-level speakers, the main goal of such a workshop is to align all stakeholders on digital, marketing and commercial aspects, but also to emphasize all media and digital services offered to our clubs. This type of meeting is part of a larger effort to develop our community, share and gain experience and grow the competition together.”

An assessment shared by our participating teams. “I’m really happy with this workshop,” said José Carlos Gaspar from Unicaja.”It has been two amazing days, the organization was great, and we have learned a lot. Also, together with all the clubs, we make a great team, and it has been very nice to share with all of them. In two days, we did the equivalent of a month of work. It was a pleasure,” he added.

Hervé Philippe, Chief Marketing & Media Officer at Olympique de Marseille, and Paula Campos, Senior Brand & Licensing Manager at FIBA Marketing, were among the speakers and presented key insights on the branding strategy, how to build a brand and develop it digitally.

James Yellen, Head of Commercial Partnerships at LiveWire Sport, gave a comprehensive presentation on the latest digital trends and video content production, and Hagen Wolf, Strategic Media Partnerships Manager at TikTok, presented the platform and its fan engagement and revenue generation growth possibilities.

“In this workshop, BCL presented their ideas and how they see basketball. It has been very helpful for us, to serve as guideline to further promote basketball locally. We have a big responsibility to promote basketball in our territory, so it was great to come here, to witness how BCL sees things in order to have all of us aligned on the same standards,” said Simona Otel from U-BT Cluj-Napoca.

Anna Andre from MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg said: “It was important to come here, especially to meet everyone from the other clubs, share experiences with colleagues. The content of the presentations was the ‘cherry on top’, with a lot of useful insights, ideas we can use and add to our portfolio.” “It was a perfectly organized workshop,” added Jan Peters from EWE Baskets Oldenburg. “It was a great opportunity to meet all the clubs’ representatives, exchange with everyone and see what they are doing on social media, in terms of branding & marketing. It will definitely help in many ways.”
