The ninth episode of the Basketball Champions League Trash Talk welcomes SIG Strasbourg guard John Roberson.

Roberson, 33, connected 6/8 from beyond the arc in the Group F away win versus Kalev/Cramo last Tuesday. He logged 28 points and nine assists as his side clinched a berth to the Play-Ins, consisting of best-of-three series scheduled to be held in January.

“It was one of those days. I think I got hot early,” he told Trash Talk host Josh Bett regarding his six triples in Estonia, “As a shooter when you see the first couple of shots go in, you know maybe it is going to be one of those days. I tried to stay aggressive. Stay with it. It was an important game for us.”

Since coming out of Texas Tech in 2011, he has become a regular in Europe playing from Slovenia, Switzerland, Sweden, and Hungary, to Russia, Turkey, and Spain. In France prior to joining Strasbourg in August, he previously helped Elan Chalon at the bottom end of the two-year run win the domestic championship in 2017 and moved to LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne for the next season.

“Great organization, great city, great fans. When I got the opportunity, it was a no-brainer,” he mentioned recalling the offseason leading him back to France, “I kinda signed late in the summer. I was just waiting around for that offer. To hear Strasbourg is interested, I didn’t really need to think about it.”

After powering Strasbourg to the Play-In Round, the experienced guard is looking for additional success in the Champions League season.

“The expectations are high. We want to win. We feel we have the team to do it. We are built to last,” he noted, “We have a lot of experience. We have veteran guys on this team. Great leadership. I think the guys who came back from last year are still hungry, they want to get back to the Final Four. The new guys, we want a taste of that.”

The latest Trash Talk episode also recapped the eighth week and previewed the ninth week of the Regular Season with Bett joined by co-host Igor Curkovic. Back in the film room, analyst Diccon Lloyd-Smeath explained coaching and tactical decisions.
