Nearly a decade since he first joined MHP Riesen, John Patrick is parting ways with the club to move to the Japanese League with Chiba Jets.

Patrick, a three-time BBL Coach of the Year (2009, 2010, 2021), led Riesen to the Basketball Champions League Final Four this past May. Although the team was eliminated from the final, they beat Hapoel Holon to finish in the third place.

Patrick, 54, began his coaching carer in 2003 with Gottingen and made the move to Japan in 2005-2006 with Toyota Alvark, winning the regional title in 2006. He returned to Germany for a six-year tenure in Gottingen and joined s. Oliver Baskets for the 2011-2012 campaign before signing a deal with Riesen in 2013.

The news of Patrick’s move to Japan was first reported by Sportando’s Emiliano Carchia.
