By Eurohoops Team/ info@eurohoops.net

Mishandling ten-point leads was a common theme but SIG Strasbourg made it out to top Tofas Bursa, 94-89, in overtime Wednesday evening.

San Diego State product Matt Mitchell logged 23 points, including eight after the third quarter. With nine points between the fourth and extra period, Marcus Keene upped his personal total to 16. Leo Cavaliere posted a 15-point, 10-rebound double-double. Stan Okoye added 14 points, including five in overtime as his side pulled away for the win in Basketball Champions League Regular Season Gameday 2.

It certainly did not look good for the team coached by Lassi Tuovi after dropping a ten-point lead and then falling behind by ten points. The hosts even trailed by five points, 76-71, down the stretch, but Keene from a long range and Bodian Massa sinking a couple of free throws tied the game at 76-76. Following unsuccessful efforts from both sides forced overtime.

With the help of the Rhenus Sport crowd, Strasbourg reacted to losing twice to Tofas in the 2021-22 BCL Regular Season and improved to 2-0 in the 2022-23 edition’s Group A.

Rob Gray scoring 27 points fell short of the win for the team coached by Dimitris Priftis. Boubacar Toure posted a 17-point, 12-rebound double-double. Tyler Ennis had 16 points. Suleiman Braimoh fouled out with 13 points. The team located in Tofas fell to 0-2.

On the injury list, Ike Udanoh was not available for Strasbourg. Tofas missed both Khyri Thomas and Ilkan Karaman.
