A win at home for Darussafaka keeps things interesting in the third Basketball Champions League season

Not much room for error entering Gameday 2 of the Basketball Champions League Regular Season. Darussafaka built a double-digit lead in the third quarter and pushed for the 80-66 victory against the Bakken Bears Wednesday night.

The top performer in the loss of the opening week, Gabriel Olaseni dropped 20 more points shooting 8/10. Forming a double-double with 12 rebounds and also dished out seven assists over 32 minutes. The British center produced an efficiency rating of 35.

Wayne McCullough chipped in 18 points. Hakan Sayili had ten points. Following the poor outing opposite Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem, Dogus Ozdemiroglu bounced back stuffing nine points, six assists, five rebounds, and three steals.

Anders Sommer’s side fell out of touch after the break and to 0-2 in Group E as Dacka improved to 1-1. The Denmark champions were limited to 24/66 field goals in Volkswagen Arena. This was the 11th loss in 12 road games in the Champions League. On the bright side, three of the remaining four fixtures of the double-legged round-robin schedule will be at home.

Ryan Evans finished with 22 points and Tony Carr got 17 points in Istanbul but not much scoring help down the list of available players, besides Elijah Childs making it to 12 points with six late free throws. Kylor Kelley was not available.

Beyond the BCL to the domestic level, the team coached by Selcuk Ernak stands at 1-2 in Turkey’s BSL and the Bears carry a 2-1 record in Denmark’s Basketligaen.
