Thanks to a solid fourth quarter, Filou Oostende gets its first 2022-23 Basketball Champions League win in Poland

Ending the game with an impressive 16-6 run in the fourth quarter, Filou Oostende found the 68-59 win in Poland against Legia Warszawa.

After a losing effort of 26 points against Hapoel Holon, Breein Tyree was once again the best scorer of Dario Gjergja’s team, ending the game with 18 points. Pierre-Antoine Gillet added a solid all-around performance of 8 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists.

Keye van der Vuurst de Vries went scoreless but dished 6 assists, and he has now made more than five assists in five of his last six BCL games with Filou Oostende.

Ray McCallum (17 p.) has now scored 15 or more points in each of his three games with Legia Warszawa in the 2022-23 Basketball Champions League. The other former NBA player Devyn Marble (3 p.) couldn’t help as he had a tough night shooting (0/8 FG, 3/7 FT).

Both teams struggled from the three-point range scoring 8/28, but the home side had a very difficult night even from the free-throw line (5/12).

Also, the guests won the confrontation both on rebounds (45 vs 35) and assists (21 vs 13). Filou Oostende run the court better, scoring 11 fast-break points, while Legia Warszawa had only 2.

This is the Belgian team’s first victory in the 2022-23 Basketball Champions League after losing first to Galatasaray and then to Hapoel Holon. Legia Warszawa lasts at the bottom of Group C with a 0-3 record.

They join Start Lublin (2020-21) as the second Polish team to lose the first three games in the competition.
