Bahcesehir Koleji acquired veteran forward/center James Gist according to the Basketball Champions League. The player has been added to the roster of the Turkish team on the BCL website. His new team followed up with an official announcement Friday morning.

Gist, 36, had been a free agent after finishing the previous season with LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne in France. He helped the team win the French Betclic Elite championship following a comeback to win the series vs. AS Monaco, 3-2. With Bahcesehir, he’s set to make his Basketball Champions League debut while returning to the domestic BSL after 10 years and his 2011-2012 with Fenerbahce.

From winning the 2021-22 edition of the FIBA Europe Cup to the BCL, the Istanbul outfit currently carries a 1-2 W-L tally in the Regular Season. It is tied with Igokea m:tel and ERA Nymburk at the midway point of the double-legged round-robin schedule. At 3-0, Surne Bilbao is closer to finishing in the first place and thus securing a direct ticket to the Round of 16. Teams landing second and third will instead compete in a best-of-three series Play-In Round.

Behind two wins at home and three losses on the road at the domestic level, Bahcesehir is 2-3 in Turkey’s BSL with a home game versus Aliaga Petkim Spor coming up tomorrow Saturday.

Throughout his career, Gist also played for such teams as Partizan Belgrade, Panathinaikos Athens, Crvena Zvezda and Bayern Munich. He spent the most years with Panathinaikos, winning five Greek League championship titles and six Cup titles from 2012 through 2019.
