AEK qualified for the Basketball Champions League playoffs by beating Galatasaray at home, however, the Greek team will miss Janis Strenleks for the rest of the season.

Coach Ilias Kantzouris expressed his fears about Strenlieks’ injury just after the game and after an MRI exam today it was confirmed that he suffered an Achilles tendon rupture.

With six to 12 months being the usual rehabilitation injury, Strelnieks will also miss the historic presence of the Latvian national team in the upcoming FIBA World Cup.

Williams’ initial tests on Thursday showed he suffered a first-degree contusion in the rectus femoris muscle of his left leg, and his condition will continue to be evaluated along with his subsequent treatments.

He is expected to be back in action for next week’s BCL game Unicaja Malaga.
