MALAGA, Spain – On the eve of the 2023 Basketball Champions League Final Four, the usual Pre-Tournament Press Conference took place in the Andalusian city. For the reigning champions of Lenovo Tenerife, the head coach Txus Vidorreta and the veteran team’s captain Marcelinho Huertas shared some words.

“We are in a similar condition to what we had 12 months ago. Hapoel Holon made a great season, but Jerusalem is even better this year, with only two losses in the last four months. The opponent is totally different, but for us, we are in the same way, with the same focus and commitment to compete. Hapoel plays very well the game of basketball, and we need to take care because they know how to play against every opponent”, the Basque head coach added.

“We have to use our experience in order to prepare well for the game. Hapoel had a tremendous season, they are aggressive on the ball. We have to be focused on the game plan from the beginning. We have to be smart enough to use our experience on the court, being able to defend a very talented team on the outside”, the 39-year-old point guard followed.

“Here in Spain, a lot of teams are trying to build something for the long term, and this is really important. Every team is able to keep the core for many years. Even with the change of players coming in and out, they are able to make people stick together. I keep improving and keep learning, so for me obviously being healthy and keeping my mind fresh also helps a lot. I changed my lifestyle in terms of nutrition, and mindfulness: everything that can give you a little extra. I’m blessed to be here, I couldn’t be happier”, Marcelinho said.
