MALAGA, Spain – Finally, the day has come for Telekom Baskets Bonn, which has become the first-ever German team to fight for the Basketball Champions League title. Tonight Tuomas Iisalo’s team will face Hapoel Jerusalem at 20:00 CET, and Javontae Hawkins will be one of the protagonists.

After dropping 13 points against Unicaja Malaga, the 29-year-old spoke exclusively to Eurohoops. “We are focusing on the tasks ahead tonight. It’s a different feeling, getting to the BCL Final, especially with coach Iisalo: we’ve had a relationship for the past 4-5 years, playing with TJ who is the heart and soul of the team. But we also have guys who have been key factors throughout the season. We’re just looking forward to coming out, competing, and getting the win”, he said following his team’s morning practice.

Javontae Hawkins came back to Bonn mid-way through the season, and he had the BCL trophy in his mind. “That was definitely in my mind. I wanted to come back and play basketball the right way, with familiar faces, to compete and win games. That’s where we at right now, in the position to win the BCL Final”, he said before sending a message to Telekom Baskets Bonn’s fans. “We know we’re gonna hear them and be as loud as possible. Continue to be our sixth man, we appreciate the support and the love even throughout this final”, he added.
