Pallacanestro Reggiana announced that it has reached a two-year agreement with Greek coach Dimitris Priftis.

Born in 1968, Priftis has been a head coach in Greece’s top division since 2010, being also a member of the Greek national team coaching staff. He was coach of the year in Greece in 2016 on the bench of Aris and then moved to Russia at Unics Kazan, working together with the current GM of Reggio Claudio Coldebella.

In July 2021 he returned to his homeland by signing for Panathinaikos, playing in the Euroleague and winning the Greek Super Cup. He left Panathinaikos mid-season, moved to Tofas and now for the first time in his career he signs with an Italian club.

As he said: “I am truly grateful to be joining one of the most traditional organizations in the Italian league. I would like to thank President Bartoli and partners San Pietro and Sassi, as well as the management of the Club, for placing their trust in me. A new chapter of my career opens, in a competitive and stimulating environment. I have great respect for Italian basketball and its coaches, they produce quality basketball with tactical intelligence. This opportunity would not have been possible without the work of a great coach and a great person like Dragan Sakota. To our fans, I say that all together we will do our best to build the best team possible. And try to give the satisfaction that the Club, the city and the enthusiasts deserve. I’ll wait for you at the PalaBigi!”.
