Pinar Karsiyaka has announced the signing of former NBA center Vernon Carey Jr., who previously played for the Charlotte Hornets and the Washington Wizards.

The 22-year-old Carey Jr. was drafted as the 32nd pick by the Hornets in 2020. After spending two years alternating between the first team and the G League, he moved to Washington last summer as part of a trade.

He was waived in March and given a new chance with the Utah Jazz the very next month but never saw playtime in Salt Lake City.

Throughout his three-year tenure in the NBA, Carey Jr. played 37 regular season matches, averaging 1.9 points and 1.4 rebounds per game.

Now, he can prove himself in Europe, playing for Pinar Karsiyaka in the Turkish BSL and the Basketball Champions League.

Ike Udanoh moves to Bonn

The defending champion of the BCL, Telekom Baskets Bonn was forced back into the market and ended up adding plenty of experience in the form of Ike Udanoh.

Udanoh, 34, was signed to provide injury relief after Thomas Kennedy hurt his knee early in the training camp. The 23-year-old Canadian center is set to miss several weeks.

The latest addition to the team coached by Roel Moors carries in the experience of 41 games played in the Champions League between SIG Strasbourg over the last three years and an earlier stint with Red October Cantu.

Besides Udanoh and Kennedy, other players on the 2023-24 squad are Tyreese Blunt, Leon Bulic, Savion Flagg, Brian Fobbs, Harald Frey, Sam Griesel, Noah Kirkwood, Florian Koch, Till Pape, Christian Sengfelder, Benedikt Turudic, and Glynn Watson Jr.
