Rio Breogan parts ways with Dimitris Agravanis upon mutual agreement

By Johnny Askounis/ info@eurohoops.net

Dimitris Agravanis suffering a serious leg injury limited his stint with Rio Breogan to two appearances in Spain’s Liga Endesa.

Agravanis, 28, was released from his short-term contract, the team announced on Tuesday, heading to the next domestic challenges and the 2023-24 edition of the Basketball Champions League.

The Greek forward/center scored nine points lasting 20 minutes before the setback. In early September, he was picked up as injury relief with Toni Nakic stuck to the sidelines. The team based in Lugo is currently scanning the market for another suitable replacement to join forces with Mouhamet Diouf, Juan Fernandez, Conner Frankamp, Sergi Garcia, Matas Jogela, Stefan Momirov, Anthony Polite, Erik Quintela, Sergi Quintela, Matej Rudan, Martynas Sajus, and Albert Ventura.

Apart from parting ways with Agravanis, Breogan updated the status of Polite. The Swiss forward, producing 4.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per ACB game over three appearances, will be reevaluated tomorrow to possibly set a timetable for his return to action.

Also dealing with a poor start in the ACB, the team coached by Veljko Mrsic will host Valencia hoping to improve to 2-3 at the domestic level on Sunday. From there to the opening round of the Champions League Regular Season with Bursaspor Info Yatirim visiting the Pazo dos Deportes on Wednesday, October 18.

Ludwigsburg signs Silas Melson

Elsewhere in the top-tier club continental competition of FIBA Europe, MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg inked former Gonzaga standout Silas Melson to a one-year contract.

Melson, 27, joined team practices with the German club since last week. Officially joining Ludwigsburg, he is set to add to the nine Champions League appearances with Kalev/Cramo during the 2021-22 season. He started the 2022-23 season with Aliaga Petkim Spor but the spell was cut short due to injury.

Jonathan Bahre, Desure Buie, Elijah Childs, Eddy Edigin Jr., Jayvon Graves, Deion Hammond, Jaren Lewis, Jacob Patrick, Johannes Patrick, Yorman Polas Bartolo, and Ben Vander Plas are his new teammates with the team coached by Josh King.
