With the headline ‘Champions Night’, Telekom Baskets Bonn hosted Rio Breogan in Round 3 of the Basketball Champions League.

First, the German side celebrated the BCL championship won last season, putting the championship banner under the rafters, and then Roel Moors’s chosen ones defeated Breogan 86-71. A night to remember for Bonn and its fans.

Brian Fobbs and Glynn Watson were pretty unstoppable, with the former scoring 21 points, and the latter adding 20 with six rebounds and four assists for a PIR of 22.

Till Pape added 16 points before getting fouled-out, while Savion Flag also finished in double digits, scoring 10 points, with five rebounds.

Matej Rudan stood out for the Spanish team with 16 points, while former NBA player Justin Anderson finished his BCL debut with 11 points, three rebounds and three assists. Mouhamet Diouf added 11 and Matas Jogela 10 points.

The hosts dominated in the first half, winning the first period 19-9, and extending the lead to 47-25 after 20 minutes. Breogan managed to trim the deficit significantly in the final moments, but it was too late to catch up with Bonn, who ended the game on a high note, with a 7-0 run to secure their second victory of the 2023/24 campaign.

Bonn is at the top of Group F with a 2-1 score, while Breogan is 1-1. Hapoel Holon played one game and beat Bonn, while Bursaspor is at the bottom with no wins after two matches.

Defending champs will meet Bursa in Round 4 for another home game (21/11), while Breogan will host Hapoel Holon (22/11).
