Needing help from Tofas to rank first, Bertram Derthona Tortona instead settled with the second seed in Group H of the Basketball Champions League Regular Season.

A win, 77-74, against Igokea m:tel in Laktasi Sports Hall sent the Lions to the wrong end of the tie on top of the four-team group on Wednesday.

The Belgian guard ended up with 15 points, matching his individual best for the 2023-24 season. TaShawn Thomas, Kyle Weems, Leonardo Candi, and Tommaso Baldasso chipped in 12 points each. Injured Chris Dowe, Riccardo Tavernelli, and Leon Radosevic were out.

Marco Ramondino’s side snapped a four-game losing streak across all competitions, including dropping to 5-7 in Italy’s LBA UnipolSai, and wrapped up the Regular Season at 5-1. Also finishing at 5-1, UCAM Murcia owning the tiebreaker won the group and a ticket to the Round of 16.

For the team coached by Vladimir Jovanovic, Edin Atic scored a game-high 18 points. Marko Josilo followed with 17 points. Nikola Tanaskovic had 14 points. Zoran Nikolic and Nemanja Gordic were sidelined, and Kosta Kondic did not play.

The Bosnia-Herzegovina champions were out of contention. They ended up with a 0-6 record and a nine-game losing streak in the Champions League. Focusing on the AdmiralBet ABA League, the 9-3 tally is tied for second in the standings of the regional league.
